Residents in the Mid-Prairie Community School District are being asked to help “Fill the Bus” in an effort to thank healthcare workers. The campaign is being organized by Teresa Hartley, the district’s Transportation Director, who says she’s unsure what to expect from the first-time endeavor, “I guess my main goal is to put a smile on people’s faces and make them feel appreciated, because nowadays with COVID I don’t feel that people get that enough. I think there’s too much negativity, so just trying to bring some positivity and a smile to people’s faces.” Hartley says donated items can be dropped off at any building in the school district, “We look for gift cards, protein granola bars, snack items, gum, candy, flowers, plants, coffee, tea, coffee cups, lip balm, lotion, socks, gift bags, or anything else you think a healthcare worker would feel special by getting.” Hartley says for now, donations to “Fill the Bus” will be divided into care packages for healthcare workers from the Mid-Prairie community, but if successful, things could expand in the future.  Donations are being accepted now through December 21.
