Three area fire departments were called to a fire at a storage building near Wellman on Saturday. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 5:50 p.m. the fire was called into authorities with the caller reporting smoke rolling out of the air vents and a dog inside. The fire was at 1090 120th Street in rural Wellman.

Wellman Fire Department, Wellman QRS, Washington County Rescue, Keota Fire Department, North Keokuk Fire Department, Washington County Ambulance and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished. The dog died in the fire.
