Blood donations are needed and a drive is being held in Washington this week. The Optimist Club of Washington is hosting the event Thursday. Donations can be scheduled between 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church.

According to the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, there is a critical need for blood donations of type O-, B+, B-, AB+, and AB-. Also, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the region’s blood supply significantly with some blood drives having to be cancelled.
