Lagos Acres is the site for tonight’s annual Keota Cross Country Invitational. Six KCII-area schools will attend including Columbus, Highland, Keota, Lone Tree, Sigourney and WACO. Columbus comes into the night having run at Louisa-Muscatine last week. The Wildcat boys won the meet with 32 points. Isaac Acosta was meet runner-up. The girls didn’t have enough for a team score but were led by Kimberly Gonzalez in 11th.

The Huskies last ran at the Hillcrest Academy Early bird on Tuesday. The Highland girls didn’t have a team score but were led by Taylor Sublette in 18th. The Highland boys were seventh with 166 points and Carlos Valenzuela lead the way in 30th.

Lone Tree also opened their season at Hillcrest a week ago. In Kalona, the Lions were sixth with 146 points in the boys standings with Nick Saltzman posting the top finish in 18th place.

WACO began 2020 in Kalona last week at Hillcrest Academy where Jonah Egli was 19th.

Sigourney opened the season Thursday at Pekin. The Savage boys did not post a team score, Mason Moore finished in 13th place.

This is the season opener for the home-standing Eagles. Joining those area schools will be BGM, English Valleys, HLV, and North Mahaska. Action begins at 4:30 and continues into the evening at Lagos Acres in Keota.
