Riverside will be the destination of a week one matchup on the gridiron when Highland opens the year hosting Wilton.

After making the playoffs in 2018, the Huskies missed out on a return trip with a 5-4 record in 2019. Connor Grinstead returns for his second year under center with the junior compiling over 1,500 yards of total offense with 15 touchdowns last fall. Owen Donovan looks to shore up the run game bringing back 726 yards on the ground and eight scores. The Huskies must replace their top three tacklers, but they return Caeden Harbison and his 38 tackles.

Wilton is a traditionally strong program, but went through a rough patch last season going 3-6. Many position players are back and full of experience including quarterback Mason Ormsby. The junior also recorded 1,500 yards from scrimmage and reached pay dirt 16 times. The Beavers aren’t afraid to air it out averaging 20 pass attempts a game.

The season kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight in Riverside.
