Despite the track season being in limbo, the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union gave a glimmer of hope when they recently released the sites for the 2020 State Qualifying Meets in May.

One area team won’t have to travel, as WACO is one of 10 host sites for class 1A and is a likely landing spot for other area schools. Belle Plaine is the next closest site in the class. Schools that are Class 1A in the KCII listening area include Columbus Community, Highland, Hillcrest Academy, Lone Tree, Winfield-Mt. Union, WACO, Sigourney, and Keota. Washington could be headed to familiar territory, as Mount Pleasant was once again announced as a destination for class 3A. Marion and Pella are the other possible locations for the Demons.

The state qualifying meets are currently set for Thursday, May 14th and the state championships in Des Moines from Thursday, May 21st to the 23rd. The track season and all spring activities are currently in a suspension through April 12th.
