A hog building near Kalona was fully engulfed in flames Saturday. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 5:12 p.m. the hog barn fire was reported to authorities. The fire was in the 2000 grid of 155th Street, about five miles southwest of Kalona. Kalona Fire Department was the first on scene and mutual aid was provided by the Riverside, Ainsworth, Wellman, Washington, and Keota Fire Departments. The fire rekindled at 11:10 p.m. and Kalona Fire Department extinguished it.
