snowpack-flood-outlook-1-5-20

Spring flooding is expected to be higher than a typical year based on conditions, according to the National Weather Service. The probabilities for spring flooding remain highest for the Mississippi River with snowpacks in Wisconsin and Minnesota in December ranging from one to six inches of water equivalent. The potential of significant flooding is still unknown. The NWS states that the lack of snow and frozen ground suggests a lesser threat for flooding on local rivers. Although, wet ground in those river basins keeps the flood potential slightly above normal. The next probabilistic spring flood outlook will be released February 13th.
