This weekend the curtain will raise on the latest production from the Mid-Prairie drama department. Their fall musical is entitled Emma. This week, members of the cast talked about the work they are putting in on the show and the plot. “If you know the story of Clueless it pretty much follows that, or if you know the Jane Austen version of Emma, it follows that except for modernized. Emma is a matchmaker for everyone and she is trying to find someone for her best friend Harriet but she doesn’t realize that she needs to find someone for herself. Choreography. Every single song is choreographed. It’s really intense and we have been working really hard on it. This show is the most choreographed we have had in a long time. Every other Wednesday we have had 4-5 hour practices. It is a workout but it all brings us closer and makes us more excited for the show. We had some practices over the summer, some on Saturdays. We have been working really hard on that.”

Emily Marner will play Jane Fairfax, Kyra Helmuth plays Emma Woodhouse, Elizabeth Sansen plays Ashley, Essie Martin plays Harriet, Ethan Bontrager plays Frankie Churchill, and Alexander Burnham plays Phillip Elton. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Shows are Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd at 7p.m. with a matinee Sunday, November 3rd.
