The public is invited to get a first hand look at the new Henry County Sheriff’s Office in Mount Pleasant. Saturday, November 9th, staff will be on hand from 12:30-4 p.m. for an open house and public tours. The process for funding a new sheriff’s 0ffice and jail began with a special election in August of 2017 that saw the public vote overwhelmingly in favor of the project, passing the $9.1 million measure at 84.7%. Six acres were acquired for the project on South Grand Avenue in Mount Pleasant, and ground was broken in May of 2018. The facility is 24,000-square feet and houses 60 beds with the possibility of expanding to 90.
