For the third straight year the Washington boys’ cross country team will be represented at the state meet in Fort Dodge, as Lance Sobaski cracked the top 15 at last night’s district meet in Solon.

The sophomore finished 13th in the class 3A meet with a time of 17:19 and the first runner left out of qualifying in 16th ran 17:25. The Demons finished seventh as a team out of 11 with 190 points and #1 ranked Clear Creek-Amana nabbed first with 39. Evan Horak finished his high school career in 32nd with a time of 18:20. Other top finishes include Elijah Morris 38th (18:30), Matt Collett 55th (19:00), and Justin Simmering 56th (19:02).

The girls finished their season in 11th with 306 points and Solon defended their home course with 68. Freshman Grace Voss paced Washington in 49th (22:21) and Tori Hinson was 60th (22:46). Hannah Rees was 63rd (22:53) and Abby Voss placed 68th (23:31).
