
The National Fire Protection Association reports that between 2012-2016 there were an average of 355,000 house fires each year. National Fire Safety week begins next Monday. Yesterday, Mid-Prairie educators got an early start on making sure their students are prepared if disaster should strike with a fire drill. Next week, Students of each grade level will visit the Kalona Fire Station throughout the week as well as reading books about fire safety. The goal of these activities is to build trust between students and the fire department and help them develop a plan of action should a fire occur.
