The Sigourney-Keota Cobra football team closed out a perfect non-district schedule for 2019 with a 53-14 win over visiting Eddyville-Blakesburg. SK continued to smash opponents with their ground game, ranked second in the state of Iowa regardless of class, piling up 559 yards on the ground and seven touchdowns against the Rockets. The Cobras were led by JD Stout with 19 carries, 204 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Sieren had 178 yards and a pair of scores on 23 carries. Wyatt Sieren led the Cobra defense with seven tackles. SK also forced four turnovers in the win, including a pair of interceptions by Brady Duwa. This week, Sigourney-Keota head coach Jared Jensen talked about the win “We saw a six front. They were lined up trying to take several of our plays away. They did a really good job. We moved the ball but didn’t break any big scoring plays until the second half. It looked like we were in better shape than they were. Offensively, we have four or five guys we feel confident about getting the job done.”
The Cobras are now 4-0 on the year and kickoff district play next week against Wilton at home.
