A chase that started in Johnson County ended in Riverside over Labor Day weekend. According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 12:15 p.m. Saturday Johnson County officials were chasing a black Ford F-250 into Washington County. Dispatch received a 911 call that the truck was driving through yards in Riverside. It was stopped at the intersection of East River Street and Hickory Street. Authorities arrested 35-year-old Quentin Jay Hamilton. He was charged with operating while under the influence second offense, eluding, theft in the second degree, criminal mischief in the first and second degrees, attempted burglary in the third degree, assault with use or display of a weapon, driving while license denied or revoked, reckless driving, and interference with official acts. The truck had been taken from Ace Recycling in Iowa City.

The truck’s exhaust was found in the 300 block of Blackberry Street while the fifth-wheel gooseneck plate was in the 300 block of St. Mary’s Street. Any other damage should be reported to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Johnson and Washington County Sheriff’s personnel and Iowa City Police assisted with the case.
