A 2019 Wapello High School graduate has been awarded the 2019 Governor Terry E. Branstad State Fair Scholarship.

Tate Boysen of Columbus Junction is one of two students to be given a $2,000 scholarship as well as a certificate of recognition from former Iowa Governor and current U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Brandstad. The scholarship is awarded to Iowa high school seniors who have contributed to the Iowa State Fair and plan on advancing their education in Iowa. Boysen has participated in the State Fair since he was a baby. Once he got older he started to take part in the Blue Ribbon Kids Club, 4-H and FFA. Boysen has won several awards at the State Fair including Division One Commercial Heifer in 2018 and Grand Champion Purebred Breeding Gilt in 2014. He will also be participating in this years Governor’s Charity Steer Show.

Boysen will be recognized Saturday at the State Fair at 6:45 p.m. on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage.
