Topsoil and subsoil in southeast Iowa grew drier in the last week. According to state Climatologist Dr. Justin Glisan, drier than normal conditions were observed across the state with rainfall deficits between half an inch and one inch. In the southeast district, topsoil moisture went from 54% adequate and 39% short to 42% adequate, 45% short, and 13% very short. Subsoil moisture in the southeast district also dropped. It is rated at 56% adequate (down from 68% adequate a week ago), 40% short, and four percent very short.
