July in Washington was both hotter than normal and drier than normal. According to the National Weather Service, the average temperature last month was 77.4 degrees, about three degrees above normal. The hottest day of the month was July 21st at 96 degrees. The total rainfall was about three inches below the normal mark of 4.3 inches.
