New summer hours for the Marr Park Education Center are now in effect.
Earlier this summer, WCCB Director Zach Rozmus brought the idea to the board as an attempt to alleviate some of the burden from the center coordinator. At the beginning of the summer, the center was open Thursday through Monday and closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, which required the center coordinator to work every weekend. In the past, the WCCB has had a tough time keeping quality workers in the position due to the scheduling in the summer. Randi Jenkins was hired as center coordinator at the end of last year.
Since Rozmus started in his role at the beginning of the year, making the center coordinator position more desirable has been a priority, “I’ve been really trying to have an open dialogue with Randi because for one, I really appreciate her being here. I think she does a really good job, and that’s a big part of it. I want to keep her around. I also want to manipulate it in a way that fits what we need from a public perspective.”
Rozmus and the WCCB has already agreed to close the center during certain county holidays, as well as adding part-time staff to help with weekend duties. The center is now be open Tuesday-Thursday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m, and closed Sunday and Monday.
