
Monday night the Iowa Mennonite School baseball and softball teams traveled to Wapello for a Superconference doubleheader. The IMS boys came away with a 10-1 win. They jumped on the Indians early with three run in the first, adding on two more in the third, one in the fourth, two in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Jacob Boller was two for four with a pair driven in. Eli Ours also drove in two. Trevor Leyden got the win on the mound, throwing a complete game, allowing three hits, one run and striking out five.
In the girls contest, Wapello took a 14-3 win. The Arrows posted three in the first and one in the second to take a 4-0 lead. IMS responded with three in their half of the second to climb within 4-3 but that was as close as they would get the rest of the night. The Arrows scored 10 unanswered from that point to take the win. Rubye Ney, Esther Hughes and Katelyn Swantz each had an RBI. With the loss, IMS is now 2-19 on the year.
