
In a matchup of KCII area girls soccer teams, Mid-Prairie travels to Columbus to take on the Wildcats Friday.
The Golden Hawks come into the match with an overall record of 3-3. The Hawks have alternated wins and losses all season to this point, their last match a 6-3 win over West Branch a week ago in Iowa City that saw Esther Hughes and Sydney Yoder each score twice. On the season the Hawks are led by the trio of Julia Boller, Sydney Yoder and Esther Hughes all with three goals each. Boller and Kaitlin Martin pace the Hawks with a pair of assists. In goal Ainsley Lueck has stopped 26 of 38 shots.
Columbus is 3-2 coming off of a win last week at Wapello 4-1. In their victory over the Arrows Odalyz Valdez had a pair of goals. On the season Vanessa Mena has scored a team high five goals. Aaliyah Santos is best for the Wildcats with four assists. In goal, Liana Sweezer has stopped 47 of 54 shots for an 87% save percentage.
These two teams met a season ago with Mid-Prairie taking a 5-4 win. Action starts at 5p.m. in Columbus Junction.
