The Dollar Tree in Washington is one step closer to being constructed. At Tuesday’s meeting the Washington City Council approved the site plan for the store. It had been recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Previously City Administrator Brent Hinson had explained that the store being built is a win on multiple fronts, “Basically when that gets built that will create tax increment to essentially pay back for the cost of the water and sewer infrastructure that Greg needs to extend in order to meet his obligations as a subdivider. And it also covers our assessments that we were planning to do on the East Washington sidewalk, including assessments that Greg himself would have to pay as a property owner there. And so really, we’ve just created something that’s sort of a good deal for everybody.” The original plan for the sidewalk along East Washington had been to assess the cost to property owners, but that will no longer be needed. The store will be built on Wiley Avenue, just south of Pizza Ranch.
