A woman from Washington was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Linn County. According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, at 8:06 a.m. Monday first responders were dispatched to a wreck in the area on Blairs Ferry Road and Feather Bridge Road. Eighteen-year-old Katelyn Miranda of Washington was traveling westbound and lost control of the vehicle on the icy road and collided head on with an eastbound vehicle being driven by 54-year-old Susan Geels of Cedar Rapids. Miranda was pronounced dead at the scene. Geels was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Agencies at the scene were fire departments from Hiawatha and Monroe, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, and Linn County Rescue. The accident is still under investigation.
