The state average for farmland values in Iowa dropped in the last year by 0.8%. In 2017 the value per acre for the state average was $7,326 and this year it is $7,264. Washington County saw it drop from $8,339 per acre to $8,194, a $145 difference. The highest value in 2018 is in O’Brien County at $10,413 and the lowest is Decatur County at $3,488. The county estimates for farmland are based on U.S. Census of Agriculture estimates and the November 1st, 2018, Iowa Land Value Survey conducted by the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development, Iowa State University, and Extension and Outreach.
