The Pekin Panthers boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Lone Tree and swept the Lions in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader Tuesday.

The Panther girls got the win over the Lady Lions 72-28. The Panthers raced out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter and were up 38-14 at the half. Another big run in the third quarter of 23-7 put the game out of reach. The Lady Lions fall to 0-7 on the season.

The boys game was tight with the Panthers emerging with the 67-61 victory. The difference was the first quarter, the Panthers jumped on top 22-13 after the first eight minutes. The two teams played even through the second quarter leaving the score at 37-28 going to the half. In the second half Lone Tree made several pushes but could not overtake Pekin. With the loss the Lions are now 1-4 on the year.
