The Iowa Mennonite boys and girls basketball teams make the trip to Packwood Friday to take on the Pekin Panthers.

The IMS girls come into the game with an overall mark of 2-3. Last time out they fell to Mediapolis 62-37. Suzanna Yoder led the way with 23 points. On the year, Yoder leads IMS, the Superconference and the state in class 1A, scoring 27 points per game. Her 24 assists are best on the team, best in the Superconference and fourth in class 1A. Yani Gutierrez leads IMS on the glass with 40 total boards, fifth most in the Superconference.

Pekin comes into the night with an overall record of 3-1. Tuesday they lost at Highland by a single point 48-47. Emily Linder leads the Panthers on the year, scoring 13 points per game, seventh in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Zoey Wright is best for the Panthers with 10 assists. The Panthers swept the season series between these schools a year ago winning 51-44 in Kalona and 59-29 in Packwood.

The Iowa Mennonite boys come into the game with a 2-1 overall record. They are coming off of their first loss of the season against Mediapolis 66-48 on Tuesday. Eli Ours led IMS with 16 in the setback. On the year, IMS is led by Ours scoring 16 per game, seventh in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. Caleb Gingerich is best on the team and third in the Superconference with 14 assists. Jeremy Niemeyer leads IMS on the glass with 21 boards, fifth in the Superconference.

Pekin is listed at 2-0 on the year. In their most recent recorded action they blasted Columbus 69-22 behind 19 points from Cameron Millikin. He leads the Panthers, scoring 20 points per game this year, sixth most in the Superconference. Caleb Comstock has the team lead with eight assists. IMS swept the season series with the Panthers last year, winning 44-39 in Kalona and 52-45 at Pekin.

Action begins tonight at 6p.m. at Pekin High School.
