The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are back on the floor Friday when they play host to the North Cedar Knights at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
The Mid-Prairie girls come in with an unbeaten 4-0 mark on the season. Last time out they topped No. 12 Iowa City Regina 51-44. They were led in the win by Myah Lugar with 17 points. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Lugar scoring 15 per game, seventh best in the River Valley Conference. Kessa Jones is best on the team with nine assists, eighth in the RVC while Shae Becker leads Mid-Prairie on the glass with 34 boards, third in the River Valley.
North Cedar is winless on the season entering tonight’s game. Last time out they fell to Camanche 56-44. On the year, Nicole Sander leads the way at seven points per game. She also leads the team with a pair of assists and Jenna Syring is best on the team and sixth in the RVC north with 26 rebounds. These two teams met a year ago with the Hawks taking a 53-41 win on the road.
The Golden Hawk boys enter play at 1-2 on the year after a 61-40 loss to rival Regina on Tuesday. Cale Robertson led Mid-Prairie with nine points in the game. For the year, Robertson is the leading scorer for Mid-Prairie, averaging 13 points per game. Brad Tornow is best on the team and second in the RVC with 12 assists. Butters leads the Golden Hawks on the glass with 29 rebounds, fourth most in the RVC.
North Cedar comes into tonight with an 0-3 record. Last time out they fell to Camanche 51-39. Keon McCullough had 14 points for the Knights. On the year the Knights are led by McCullough scoring 11 points per game, ninth most in the RVC north. He’s also best on the team with six assists. Alex Woodward has the team lead with 17 rebounds. These two teams met a year ago with North Cedar getting the 59-50 win.
