
The Mid-Prairie girls and boys cross country teams made the trip to the Creek Classic Monday in Iowa City.
The Golden Hawk girls won the meet with a score of 25 points. Vinton-Shellsburg was second with 72 points. The Golden Hawks were led by individual champion Marie Hostetler, who won the race in 18:50.72. Other finishers for Mid-Prairie included Mitzi Evans third, Moriah Brase fifth, Angelina Evans seventh, Ana Fleming ninth, Kessa Jones 10th, Kate Cavanagh 11th, Brittany Kinsinger 14th, Zoe Fisher 21st, Zebi Kimani 44th, Anna Nafzinger 47th, Jill Owen 51st, and Lily Hayes 57th.
Winfield-Mt. Union also competed but did not post a team score. They were led by Avery Maeder in 25th, Whitney Vantiger was 26th and Kaden Fisk 49th.
The WACO Warriors did not post a team score. They were led by Makenzie Shelman in 55th, Caitlin Sells 60th and Jackayla Vradenberg 63rd.
On the boys side, the Golden Hawks finished as team runners-up with a score of 64. Clear Creek Amana won the meet with a perfect score of 15. Top finisher for the Golden Hawks was Quinn Schmidt in seventh with a time of 18:34.19. Other Mid-Prairie finishers included Thaddeus Shetler 16th, Spencer Yutzy 21st, Jamison Stutzman 22nd, Jack Pennington 27th, Chandler Hershberger 30th, Miles Burrows 31st, Lucas Bontrager 40th, Elmir Ganibegovic 47th, Luke Albright 53rd, Sam Yoder 66th, Levi Stultz 67th, Evan Hall 68th, Austin Bontrager 70th, Dallas Miller 76th, Ethan Hall 84th, Ty Carey 85th and Gabe Brase 87th.
Winfield-Mt. Union finished fifth of seven teams with a score of 135 points. Top finisher for the Wolves was Brody Barton in 11th with a time of 18:55.84. Other WMU finishers included Asa Gipple 34th, Dane Sweezer 46th, Talon Newton 54th, Destiny Calvin 65th, Avinn Newton 77th, Jack Moody 78th, and Ben Hemsworth 88th.
WACO finished sixth of seven schools with a team score of 170 points. Top finish for the Warriors came from Jonah Egli in 24th with a time of 20:06.22. Other finishers for the Warriors included Larz Smith 59th, Joe Edeker 60th, Taylor Sutton 75th and Tim Ackles 80th
