Three KCII area teams will be at Highland High School Thursday for pool play to open the annual Southeast Iowa Superconference volleyball tournament.
Iowa Mennonite comes into the event with an overall record of 10-9 after dropping all three matches over the weekend at the Williamsburg tournament. On the year, IMS is led by Mia Graber with 109 kills, fourth most in the Superconference. Sami Miller has the team lead and is fifth in the conference with 177 assists. Suzanna Yoder leads the team and the conference with 256 digs.
WACO comes into the night with an overall record of 10-5. The Warriors went 3-1 over the weekend at the North Mahaska tournament, beating Sigourney, Prairie City Monroe and North Mahaska before falling to Grinnell. On the year the Warriors are led by Morgan Graber with 94 kills. Laney Graber with 223 assists, seventh most in the Superconference, and Aubri Garnsey leads the Warrior defense with 98 digs.
Highland stands at 1-10 on the year. Last time out they were beaten in five sets on the road by the Wapello Arrows. On the season the Huskies are led by Aly Stokes with 52 kills. Stokes is also eighth in the Superconference and best on the team with 120 digs. Kylie Wood has 62 assists, 10th in the Superconference.
Joining those three area teams at Highland are the Van Buren Warriors. They enter play at 16-2 on the year. They went 4-0 at their home tournament Saturday, beating Cardinal twice, West Hancock and Moravia. On the year the Warrirors are led by Selena Sayre with 202 kills, most in the Superconference. Logan Schmidt is fourth in the Superconference with 237 assists while Isabell Manning leads the Warrior defense and Superconference with 277 digs.
Action begins tonight at 5p.m. at Highland High School.
