The Golden Hawk boys were eighth of 11 teams with a score of 233 points. Clear Creek Amana won the meet with 32 points. Top finish for the Hawks came from Quinn Schmidt in 25th with a time of 18:25. He spoke after the race about his run. “The course was pretty good, a lot of 90 degree corners, which isn’t great for running fast. It was cool in the trees. There were a lot of good schools here. Some really good runners. The gameplan was to go out easier in the first mile, so after the others tired themselves out I could pass people steadily throughout the whole race. I started passing people about the 800 meter mark which was a little too early. I feel like I held on pretty good through the rest of the race after that.”

Other finishers for Mid-Prairie included Thaddeus Shetler 44th, Samson Kimani 48th, Spencer Yutzy 52nd, Chandler Hershberger 64th, Jamison Stutzman 69th and Luke Albright 75th. The Golden Hawks are next in action Monday when they travel to the Clear Creek Classic at the Iowa City Kickers Complex.
