The Sigourney-Keota football team earned themselves yet another win on Friday night, traveling to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and grounding the Rockets 48-34.
The Cobras had been dealing with some injuries leading up to Friday, including a season-ending blow to their star running back Carson Crawford, who tore a rotator cuff in last week’s action against Albia. After missing week one, Crawford ran for 547 yards and three touchdowns across weeks two and three. Even with his absence, though, the Cobras battled through.
The run game was more than a factor on Friday without Crawford, with SK rushing for a total of 478 yards and getting into the end zone seven times on the ground. As a result, JD Stout only had to throw one pass, which was completed for six yards.
With the win, the Cobras move their record up to 3-1. They’ve got a tough test on the road this week, however, taking on fifth-ranked Wilton (Gazette/KGYM rankings).
