Women interested in learning about outdoor recreation and conservation activities are invited to an outdoor workshop at the Langwood Education Center.

Louisa County Conservation, with the help of other local organizations, is hosting a workshop to provide women the opportunity to try out several outdoor recreation activities, explore the outdoors, and meet other women who enjoy learning about the environment. Local professionals will instruct participants on activities such as archery, paddling, monarch tagging, and archaeology. Women are also invited to camp at Langwood during the two-day workshop at no cost, and tents can be provided.

Naturalist Bobbi Provost shares the purpose of holding this workshop, “One of our biggest goals for the workshop was to have the women have fun for the weekend, but we really want them to be able to take what they learned and continue doing some of the things that they might have enjoyed doing during the weekend or continue doing things that they already love. We really want to empower the women to continue exploring and learning about the outdoors. And we’d like them to feel confident enough to share what they learned and enjoyed with their friends and families, because we find it important to learn about natural resources and the environment and to enjoy our natural resources.”

The women’s outdoor workshop begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22nd and lasts until 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23rd. Cost is $30 per person which includes meals and workshop materials, and pre-registration is required by Saturday, September 15th. Participants must be 18 or older to register.
