Schools in the area will not operate today. Banks and government offices such as the courthouse will also be closed. City Halls will not be open and the Washington Public Library is closed today. Post offices are closed and mail is not delivered today. Washington County Mini Bus will not operate. Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894, approved by Congress to be observed on the first Monday in September to honor workers across the United States.
