The Columbus Wildcat baseball team won a total of three games this season.
That said, their 3-17 record was quite the improvement from recent years; their three wins account for more wins than the last three years combined, and are the most the program has had in one season in almost a decade.
A 3-17 record certainly does not look great on paper, but there’s still a decent amount from this season to be proud of. Abel Mena hit over .400, which is an improvement from a .356 season last year. The pitching staff as a whole sported an ERA of over 10, but Tommy Pretz found success with a 3.86 ERA through six starts and six relief appearances.
On top of that, they did win more games than they did since 2009. This program has not seen a winning season in a very long time, but these positives could be the start they need to get the team into winning fashion.
