The Sigourney Softball team went over to Oskaloosa for some tournament play on Saturday, taking two losses and bringing home a win.

The first game was a battle of two ranked teams, with the seventh-ranked Savages taking on the sixth-ranked team in class 4A in Oskaloosa.  Osky won that game 12-2 after five and two thirds innings.

The second matchup came against Wayne, ending in a narrow 4-3 loss.  Despite being the losing pitcher, Madelyn Hornback was excellent in the circle, throwing all seven innings and giving up just one earned run on nine hits while striking out two.

Sigourney took the win in game three, beating Pella by a score of 4-2.  Megan Stuhr continued her recent offensive dominance, going 1-3 at the plate and accounting for three of the team’s four runs in one form or another (two RBI and a run scored).

Sigourney’s record moves to 14-6 on the season after Saturday’s games.  They will go at it again tonight on the road in a South Iowa Cedar League matchup against English Valleys.  First pitch in North English is set for 6:00.
