Warm weather with some precipitation helped Iowa’s crop development as the calendar moved from May to June.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 81% of Iowa’s corn is rated in good to excellent condition, while 90% of soybeans are rated good to excellent. In southeast Iowa 89% of corn has emerged and 81% of soybeans have emerged. The five-year average is 88% for corn and 57% for soybeans. Last week, activities included cutting and baling hay, planting, and spraying.
