A plein aire art contest is coming for the first time to Washington this weekend.

Artists may use whichever medium they’d like from paint to oils to pastels. Art Domestique is hosting the competition and artists will get their canvas or board stamped Saturday morning to be an official entry piece. They’ll then disperse across Washington to put their take on local historic landmarks onto the canvas. All of the artists have to abide by the time limits and have to have at least one piece done by the end of the day, if not two.

Then on Sunday they will be turned in at the non-profit on South Iowa Avenue on the square and will be given two hours to create another piece which must be somewhere on the square. The artwork will be judged and awards will be presented. All of the pieces will be available for purchase Sunday afternoon.
