The Danville Bears spoiled the home opener for the Iowa Mennonite School softball team Tuesday in Kalona, collecting a 13-0 win in just four innings.
In a game heard on KCII, Danville scored three times in each of their first two at bats, chasing IMS starter Joya Schrock in the second. Suzanna Yoder came on in relief and was greeted by a five-run third inning from Danville, including a Kelsey Jackson two run homer. The Bears added two more in the fourth to take a 13-0 lead. In the circle for Danville, Hailey Molter retired the first 11 batters she faced in order. Avery Blauvelt’s single up the middle with two down in the fourth was the only IMS baserunner of the night. With the loss IMS falls to 0-1 on the year, Danville improves to 1-1.
