The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team opens the class 2A playoffs tonight at the Wellman Soccer Complex when they host South Tama.

The Golden Hawks enter the match with an overall record of 6-4, winners of four in a row, including a 1-0 double overtime win over Mediapolis on Thursday with Nick Ives scoring the golden goal. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Ashton VanWinkle and his 15 goals. Zeus Fugate has the team lead with eight assists. In goal, Beau Stutzman leads the way with 30 saves.

South Tama enters with an 8-8 overall record, also winners of their last four matches in a row. Last time out the Trojans topped Mount Vernon by a 5-1 score. For the year, South Tama is led by Jonathan Castrejon with eight goals. He and Jorge Davila have the team lead with four assists. In goal, Jake Wilkerson has 94 saves.
