Two people are injured after a single-vehicle wreck in Mount Pleasant Tuesday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, at about 9:25 a.m. 82-year-old Warren R. Garrels of Mount Pleasant was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on Winfield Avenue at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Winfield and Iowa Avenues. He drove straight through the intersection striking two utility poles and four parked vehicles. Warren, and passenger 77-year-old Barbara A. Garrels, were both transported by ambulance to the Henry County Health Center for treatment of injuries. Mount Pleasant Police Department and Henry County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
