The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Columbus Wildcat boys and girls track teams travel to Eddyville-Blakesburg Thursday for their class 2A state qualifying meet.

The Golden Hawk boys and girls were last on the track Friday at the River Valley Conference Championship meet at West Liberty. The Mid-Prairie boys brought home the team championship for the first time since 2008. The Hawks had four conference titles on the night with Floyd Evans winning the 1600 and 3200, Cary Schaefer the 400 and the distance medley team of Elmir Ganibegovic, Adain Rath, Grant Boyse and Evans was also a winner. The Mid-Prairie girls were fourth with four championships. Anna Hostetler won the 800 and 1500. Marie Hostetler won the 3000 and the Golden Hawk distance medley team of Maddie Edgington, Amber Swart, Abbagail Evans and Marie Hostetler was a winner.

The Columbus Wildcats were last on the track a week ago at the Superconference North Championship meet. The Columbus boys were fourth with Abel Mena winning the conference title in the 100 hurdles. The Columbus girls were seventh with their top finish coming from Anna Hamilton second in the 400 hurdles.

Joining the Golden Hawks and the Wildcats at Eddyville are Albia, Centerville, Central Lee, Davis County, Mediapolis, Prairie City Monroe, Pekin, Pella Christian, Van Buren and the home-standing Rockets. Action begins at 4p.m. and continues into the evening at Eddyville-Blakesburg High School.
