The Wellman City Council awarded a bid for the emergency shelter backup generator.
The city received three sealed generator bids for the Parkside Activities Center. The bids were from Ace Electric for $115,880, Randall Electric for $139,500, and Advanced Electric for $95,000. The council voted unanimously to accept Ace Electric’s bid, despite it not being the lowest. City Administrator Kelly Litwiller says the council chose Ace Electric because they were a contractor for the construction of the Parkside Activities Center and they were comfortable with partnering with them. The city received a $101,860 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant to purchase the generator to use at Parkside as their emergency shelter instead of the fire station. Litwiller expects it to be installed by the end of summer.
