The WACO Warriors will be hosting their annual Eckstrand Relays on Thursday.On the girl’s side you can see teams of Danville, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fairfield, Fort Madison High School, Highland, HLV, Iowa Mennonite School, Keokuk, Lone Tree, Mediapolis, New London, Sigourney Junior-Senior, Tri-County, Winfield-Mount Union, Washington, and WACO.

The Washington Demons will be without Leah Marek, Isabel Bailey, Jenah Greiner, and Hannah Anderson as the qualified for the Drake Relays, but they still have runners like Ashley Telleen to watch. Washington was last on the track at Monday’s Ralph White Relays in Burlington.

The Highland Huskies will be without Sarah Schneider, Aly Stokes, Kristy Thomann, Emily Yahnkee as they qualified for the Drake Relays. You can still watch Murphy Beinhart and Bailey Harmston. The Huskies were last on the oval Tuesday at Sigourney where they took second as a team with four championships including Emily Yahnke in the 100 and long jump, Bailey Harmston in the high jump and the 4×200 team of Sarah Schneider, Aly Stokes, Murphy Beinhart and Yahnke.

Iowa Mennonite School last competed at last week’s Mid-Prairie Co-Ed Relays in Wellman. IMS had a pair of championships on the night with Suzanna Yoder winning the 100 and 200.

The Winfield-Mt. Union has Cecelia Hemsworth coming off her 800-meter championship in the Sigourney relays on Tuesday. The Wolves had a seventh place team finish at Sigourney.

The Sigourney Savages will also compete tonight at WACO, they will be without the services of Autum Barthelman, Summer Barthelman, Heidi Clarahan and Brooke Waechter who are at Drake. Last time on the track the Savages hosted their home meet Tuesday, finishing in third place with four championship events including Autum Barthelman in the 100 hurdles, Summer Barthelman in the 400 hurdles, the 4×100 relay team of Summer and Autum Barthelman, Clarahan and Waechter and the shuttle hurdle team of Autum and Summer Barthelman, Leah Carter and Clarahan.

The Lone Tree girls last ran at Belle Plaine Monday, finishing fifth as a team, led by Natalie Patterson’s title in the 3000.

The home-standing Warriors were last in action Tuesday at Sigourney where they were sixth as a team with the top event finishes coming from the 4×400 team of Kaylee Shelman, Aubri Garnsey, Morgan Graber and Ashley Hallett in second and the shuttle hurdle relay of Molly Mclaughlin, Grace Conwell, Laney Graber and Kiana Miller were second.

On the Boys side you can see the teams of. Central Lee, Danville, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Highland, HLV, Iowa Mennonite School, Keokuk, Lone Tree, Mediapolis, Mid-Prairie, New London, Tri-County, Winfield-Mount Union, Washington.

The Washington Demons will be without Cade Hennigan, Tanner Murphy, Sawyer Whisler, and Spencer Sotelo as they qualified for the Drake Relays. The Demons will still have Ethan Hunt and Justin Simmering. Washington was last in action at the Ralph White Relays in Burlington Monday.

The Mid-Prairie boys will also be at WACO, they ran last at the Anamosa Raider Relays Tuesday and had four championships with Terrhyn Jacoby winning the 100, Peyton Miller the 400 hurdles, Kyle Miller the high jump and the 4×400 team of Grant Boyse, Cary Schaefer, Marshall Teets and Peyton Miller taking the title. They will be without distance runner Floyd Evans who is competing at Drake this weekend.

For the Highland Huskies Zach Lasek is coming off his first place in the discus at the Sigourney invitational on Tuesday.

For the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves Brandon Snowden will try and keep his winning ways going in the 400, and Kolten Buster in the high jump. The Wolves were last in action Tuesday at Sigourney where they were fourth in the team standings with titles from Brandon Snowden in the 400 and Kolten Buster in the high jump.

The Lone Tree Lions will have Casey Shalla our hedge above Lawncare Track Athlete of the Week competing in the Discus and shot Put. The Lone Tree boys are coming off of a fifth place finish at Belle Plaine Monday. The Lions had three titles with Keegan Edwards taking the high jump, Brady Dauber the long jump and Casey Shalla winning the shot put.

For the WACO Warriors Colton Horak will try and keep his winning ways in the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles for the Sigourney relays where WACO finished sixth as a team, led by Horak’s titles in those two events.

The Iowa Mennonite boys were last in action at last week’s Mid-Prairie Co-ed Relays in Wellman where Levi Geyer led the team with a sixth place finish in the two-mile.

The Relays start at 4:30 on Thursday.
