The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks are set to host several area teams in the Golden Hawk Co-Ed Relays Tuesday night at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman.
The Mid-Prairie boys are coming off of a strong performance last time out at the Denny White Relays in Mount Pleasant. The Hawks had five event championships Thursday with Marshall Teets winning the 800, Floyd Evans the 1600, Peyton Miller the 400 hurdles, Kyle Miller the high jump and the 4×800 team of Evans, Teets, Cary Schaefer and Zach Pettit took the title.
Joining the Mid-Prairie boys tonight are the Washington Demon boys. At the Denny White Relays in Mount Pleasant last week the top finishes for the Demons included a second place for the sprint medley team of Mario Tapia, Tanner Murphy, Sawyer Whisler and Ethan Hunt, a third place finish for Hunt in the 400 hurdles, a fourth place finish for the 4×200 team of Tapia, Murphy, Whisler, and Hunt and Cade Pouren with a fourth place finish in the 200.
The Columbus boys were last on the track Friday at the rescheduled Wapello Indian Relays.
The Highland boys were last in action April 5th at the Demon Co-Ed Relays with Zack Lasek posting a fourth place finish in the shot put to lead the Huskies.
Other boys teams in Wellman tonight include Anamosa, Clear Creek Amana, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mediapolis, Midland, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, West Branch, West Liberty, Williamsburg and Wilton.
On the girls side of the event the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were last in action Thursday at the Tipton Tigrette Relays. The Hawks had a runner-up team finish led by a pair of titles from Anna Hostetler in the 800 and 1500 and a gold from Ana Fleming in the 3000.
The Highland girls were last on the track Thursday at Pekin. The Huskies had one event champion on the night with Emily Yahnkee winning the 100m dash.
The Iowa Mennonite School girls were last on the track April 5th at Solon. Suzanna Yoder put together a big night with four top 10 finishes including the 200, long jump, 100 and 400.
Lone Tree last ran last week at West Branch while Columbus was in action a week ago at the Pen City Relays in Fort Madison. Oskaloosa will also join those four area schools tonight at Mid-Prairie.
