Monday at Highland High School the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks will visit the Huskies in the soccer season opener for both sides.

Mid-Prairie ended last season with a 7-6 overall record, falling in the second round of the playoffs to Cedar Rapids Xavier. Mid-Prairie is a young group this season, looking to replace their top four goal scorers and their top three in assists. Mid-Prairie will also have a first-year starter in net this season. Top returner for the Mid-Prairie offense is Terrhyn Jacoby with three goals scored last season. Nick Ives is the returning leader with four assists.

Highland was 1-12 a season ago, with their lone victory in May over Wapello 3-0. The Huskies lost their top scorer from last season Caleb Brase, who finished with five goals, but do return second leading scorer Jordan Sosa who finished with three. The Huskies are also looking to replace Tyler Striegel in net, Brady Hahn was second on the team last year with 17 saves.

These two teams met twice a season ago with Mid-Prairie winning by matching 10-0 mercy rule scores. Action begins tonight at 5p.m. at Highland High School.
