Prom is just around the corner for area high school students, and there’s an option for those wanting to shrink the expenses that come with it.

All Dolled Up, a free prom dress giveaway, will have its final event of 2018 this weekend. All Dolled Up offers a variety of formal dresses in different colors and sizes free for any area student regardless of school district. The giveaway is at the Wayland Youth Center.

Organizer Jenny Unternahrer has been doing this for seven years, “There’s a need, there’s absolutely a need. And I thought a couple of times about the amount of work that really only goes into this time of year, but it’s definitely some work. And I think, ‘You know what? Somebody’s going to need this.’ I thought the first year when I did it if I had at least one girl come in, great. And I think that first year I had 10, and in the six years I’ve done it I’ve had 110 total come in and get gowns. So every year it gets a little bit bigger.”

All Dolled Up will be open from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the Wayland Youth Center. There is also a variety of shoes and accessories available, and Unternahrer is always accepting donations.
