Short stories are featured in a new monthly program called Brown Bags and Books at the Washington Public Library.

Director of the library Debbie Stanton explains the monthly event is organized by volunteer Mimi Jacoby. She selects short stories and reads them aloud during the lunch hour, which Stanton enjoys, “And it’s really amazing just how relaxed you can get, because we’re read to as kids but then most adults even like being read to it’s just we don’t get the opportunity very often.” Stanton adds that they’ve looked at what has been checked out in the library’s collection, and short stories aren’t selected as much. It’s held the second Tuesday of each month at noon, and attendees are encouraged to bring their brown bag lunch. The next session will be March 13th.
