The flood outlook for this spring from the National Weather Service indicates near normal risk for flooding for rivers in Iowa.
The second of two outlooks for the area indicates snowmelt flooding remains possible along the Mississippi River and heavy rains will be needed for flooding along local rivers. According to the NWS, after well above normal precipitation in the later half of February, the total precipitation for the season averages out to near normal. Also, since the ground has thawed across much of the local area, the flooding potential has lowered.
