The Washington boys’ basketball team hopes third time is a charm tonight against Fairfield, as they face off with the Trojans in Solon for the first round of the class 3A districts.

Washington (6-15) fell to their Southeast Conference foe twice in the regular season by a combined 20 points. In order for the Demons to change the tide in their third meeting they will have to control the glass. The Trojans out rebounded them by 29 boards in two contests. Cale Hobscheidt leads Washington in that category with six per game. The senior also leads the team in points with 10 per game and Luke Turner averages six. The Demons will look to bounce back from their regular season finale loss to Williamsburg 71-53 on Tuesday.

Fairfield (13-8) is peaking at the right time, currently riding a nine-game win streak. Austin Simpson and Dante Cingire lead them with 11 points per contest.

The postseason action gets started at 6 p.m. tonight at Solon High School. Tune into KCII starting at 5:30 p.m. to hear all of the live play-by-play coverage.
