The Washington girls’ basketball team has upset on their minds tonight when they travel to Eldridge to face off with class 4A defending state champs North Scott in the regional semifinal round.

The Demons (7-14) are fresh off one of their best performances of the year pounding Fort Madison in the first round Wednesday 49-12. Washington had their 1-2-1-1 press working against the Bloodhounds creating 18 turnovers in the first half alone. The Demon offense will have to be at its best tonight, going up against a Lancer team that gives up less than 40 points a game. Sarah Nacos will look to lead them with 12 points a game. Both teams average 29 boards a game and the Demons are led by Addison Six with eight per contest.

The Lancers (19-2) are peaking at the right time as well, riding a 14-game winning streak to end the regular season. They have weapons from all over with three players averaging double figures. Grace Boffeli leads them with 13 points and nine boards a game. Presley Case averages 12 points and Rylie Rucker with 11. The Lancers shoot 45% from the floor as a team.

The postseason matchup gets started at 7 p.m. tonight at North Scott High School in Eldridge. Tune into KCII to listen to the live coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. with the Washington HyVee pre game show.
