A Louisa County resident got a surprise while driving near Grandview this week.

Dick Grimm discovered the signs that he and his wife, Cindy, applied for and got approved by the Iowa Department of Transportation last month are now installed. The signs direct drivers to the All Veterans Memorial and Louisa County Freedom Rock located east of the intersection of Highways 61 and 92. The DOT covered all costs of creating and installing the signs for the non-profit attraction owned by the Louisa County Vietnam Veterans group. Dick thought the signs weren’t going to be installed until the spring, “I’m really surprised they are there that soon because they had to be made and it’s a total of six different signs. My personal thought is, I didn’t think they would be put up until the weather was nicer but apparently I was wrong.”

Dick says he and other community members are excited about the new signs. These replace the signs that were removed when 61 was reconstructed into a four-lane road, and the intersection of 61 and 92 was made a bypass interchange.
